At the beginning of 2016, a deal was reached to acquire one of Blackpool’s longest standing gaming and amusement machine suppliers FYLDE COIN EQUIPMENT.
The current owners, Robin and Margaret Paterson founded the company back in Blackpool’s golden era of the 1960’s. The company started out as jukebox specialists, installing and selling jukeboxes into the resorts working men’s clubs, hotels and bars for a number of years. From then on, they slowly started building up a reputable reputation in the town, adding more and more equipment to their machine portfolio as the years grew.
As of 2016, they had managed to build up a considerable machine estate, which not only covered a large area of the Fylde Coast, but out of town and rural areas too. Deciding with the current climate of the industry, Robin and Margaret decided now would be the best time to retire from the business.
So with the sale agreed and the Fylde Coin company acquired, Sonic decided eventually not to keep the Fylde Coin name going forward. So over the coming year, all existing Fylde Coin venues and machines would subsequently be upgraded and moved to being under the SONIC branding.
As part of the deal, Sonic chose not to purchase the Fylde Coin property on Lytham road, and instead deciding to move all machines and operations to the SONIC location on Arkwright court.
